The Professional Contractors Services Organisation Forum

In 2014 the Professional Contractors Services Organisation (PCSO) was founded by Contracting PLUS together with other providers in this area. The PCSO was set up to ensure compliance and peace of mind for Agencies and Professional Contractor alike.

We saw the need for a professional body to represent the Accounting Service Providers in Ireland, specifically, service providers who specialise in assisting Professional Contractors in Ireland.

In 2015 the PCSO and its members held a number of forums. The outcome was to ensure all PCSO members adapted a Code of Practise to ensure the highest standards are provided to the Professional Contracting sector in Ireland. This Code of Practice is vetted by PWC, and Contracting PLUS and all current members are abiding by this Code of Practice. Any new applicants to join must progress through a vetting process. The vetting process will analyse and assess the accounting and taxation practices of the applicant Accounting Service Provider and determine membership of that Provider to the PCSO. As the Founder and Leading member of the PCSO, Contracting PLUS is driving compliance for the Irish Professional Contracting Sector.

The first forum of 2016 of the PCSO has taken place on the 29^th of January. This forum was attended by representatives from Revenue Commissioners, Department of Jobs and Enterprise and Innovation, Enterprise Ireland, IDA, IBEC, Trinity College Dublin, multinationals and domestic Irish companies as well as some of Irelands leading Recruitment Agencies such a Morgan McKinley, Sigmar, CPL, PM Group and many more, gathered to discuss compliance for the sector. Professor Andrew Burke of Trinity, a leading researcher in this area gave the keynote address, stressing the importance of the sector in a modern Innovative economy, and outlining the role it plays in attracting FDI to Ireland.

We are hopeful for 2016 that the PCSO will be successful in ensuring that the Independent Professional Contractors operating in Ireland, and with Irish based companies, are given the recognition and support they deserve in carrying out their vital role in the modern workplace.
